A cleric, Dr Usama Magaji, has urged muslim public office in Nigeria to be God-fearing in discharging their duties and in accordance with the virtues and teachings of Prophet muhammad, to ensure a society free of insecurity,chaos and other vices as well as boost economic development of the country.
He gave the advice on Thursday in Lokoja in his lecture, entitled “The Economic System of Prophetic
Planning , Lessons From Hijra,”
at the three-day Annual Conference of the 4th Nigeria World Maulid Anniversary in honour of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Our Correspondent reports that the the conference has the theme: ”The Prophetic Solutions To The Questions of Humanity’,organised by JAM’IYYATU ANSARIDDEEN (ATTIJANIYYA), under the leadership of His Spiritual Eminence, Sheikh Muhammad Mahi Ibrahim Nyass, the Grand Khalifa, Worldwide.
Magaji,who is the the Imam of Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State,noted that the economic value of a country depended on the qualifications, expertise and sound economic planning as emphasised by the Holy Prophet whose teachings,he added, could turn around the economic woes of the nation,if adhere to.
He, therefore,called on muslims to plan their economic activities in line with Islamic injunctions and unite to develop their communities in particular and the country at large.
Contributing, Dr Aminu Abdullahi, from University of Sokoto, in his topic, entitled: ”Hours of the Prophet’s Daily Life, Lessons and Morals”, stressed the need for muslims to protect human rights which he described as the core value of Prophet Muhammad.
Abdullahi said that the Holy Prophet was loved by people because of his good attitude, describing him as the best of character.
The lecturer urged muslims to live exemplary life of the Holy Muhammad whose his life and deeds were characterised by virtues of simplicity, perseverance, patience, generosity, care and respect for one another and shunned disdaining anybody.
He further urged muslims to eschew being hard on others, saying, ”Prophet says we should respect one another and we should not treat anybody with disdain or being wicked to people.
”The Prophet was very generous with significant hallmark of leadership which Muslims should also emulate to have a peaceful society,he noted.
Prof. Ali Al-Ahmer, whose topic centred on preventive measures against COVID-19, urged the people not to engage in what could destroy them, but be socially responsible and maintain hygienic living, reminding them that was part of beliefs in Islam.
The Chairman of the Conference, His Royal Highness, Dr Usman Obaje , the Ejeh Dekina, said the society could only be bettered and comfortable for people if every body, including leaders, emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad.
The royal father commended the organisers of the conference, saying that if Prophet Muhammad’s virtues and teachings were adopted,they would address the present challenges facing the world with great satisfaction.
Our Correspondent reports that the three-day conference, earlier scheduled to end on Saturday, was well attended by muslims across the federation.
