Establishment of University of Agriculture in Okunland tops my agenda- Sen Adeyemi

Sen. Smart Adeyemi, APC (Kogi West) and Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation says the establishment of a University of Agriculture in his constituency(Okunland) remains a top agenda in his agenda in the Senate.

He reinstated this on Wednesday in a statement in  what Abuja after what he described as intense lobby on the floor of the Senate, to ensure the bill for the establishment of such institution is passed and assented into by the President.

The Senator said efforts were on to make the President sign the bill into law upon passage by the two chambers of the National Assembly.

He said the bill which had gone through first reading sought to upgrade the Divisional Agricultural College of the Ahmadu Bello University in Kabba to a full fledge University of Agriculture.

Adeyemi said the need for the area to have a full university became necessary almost sixty years that it had produced thousands of agriculture professionals.

Sen.Adeyemi noted that with  had such feat Okunland had the capacity, resourcefulness and competence to run University of such discipline.

According to the federal legislator,the seriousness toward the passage of the proposed Federal University of Agriculture, KABBA by the Senate again manifested when the bill came up on Wednesday for the formal first reading.

Duaglobalnews gathered that the Senator was seen moving round the Senate chamber, seeking colleague’s support for the realisation of his dream for the proposed institution.

He promised that all efforts and lobbing required would be done to ensure the passage of the bill by the two chambers of the National Assembly and its signing into law by the President.

 

Meanwhile, constituents across the seven local government areas of Kogi West have continued to shower praises on the Senator for his understanding of the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

They described Sen. Adeyemi‘s manner in the Senate as the most audacious way to define representation and a clear indication that the Senator was in tune with the reality of the day.
