The Nigeria Union of Journalists,Kogi State Council, has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its members, Mal. Musa Usman.
The Reporters gathered that Usman, who was the chairman, Ministry of Information and Communications chapel of the union before his death on Monday at Abuja during a short illness and buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
The deceased,said to be in his early 40s,who left a wife, children and other relations to mourn his death, was also the Public Relations Officer, State Ministry of Water Resources, Lokoja.
Some members of the council were seen at the Press Centre in pensive mood discussing the passage of Musa, a colleague they described as peaceful, soft spoken, intelligent and amiable personality, almost to no fault.
The Managing Director/ Editor in Chief of The Reporters,an online publication, expressed shock over the death of Musa.
He said:”We met few days ago at First Bank,Lokoja without any sign that he was ill, only to hear of his death.
“As the PRO, Ministry of Water Resources,he spent about 30 minutes with me at the Press Centre, Lokoja to explain to me the reasons for the scarcity of potable water in Lokoja sometime ago.
“He was eloquent and explicit in his explanation of the problem that we ended the dialogue on a happy note.
“This is the kind of resourceful journalist who knew his onions in image making business that we just lost to the cold hand of dead.
“I pray almighty Allah to forgive Musa’s sins and accept him into aljanah as well as his family, the council and information chapel fortitude to bear this great loss.”
