A Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) aspirant in Anambra state, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has called on affluent Nigerians living abroad, especially those of Ibo extraction, using their talents and financial resources to develop other nations to come home to develop their country.
Ezeemo, who made the call in a telephone interview with the correspondent of The Reporters from London on Tuesday, reminded these Nigerians that no foreigner would develop Nigeria except Nigerians.
Ezeemo, who is on a brief visit to London, noted that while Nigeria had produced many rich citizens making feats in foreign countries, the country had remained backward compared to the western world where its sons and daughters building other people’s nations.
According to Ezeemo, who is a prominent industrialist in Anambra, the purpose of man’s creation is for him not just to worship God but use his talent to make positive impact in the life of the society and its inhabitants.
“Therefore, rich Nigerians promoting real scientific, technological, commerce development among other feats in forien lands have a patriotic duty to develop their country by ploughing back their resources to establish industries and other economic activities to put Nigeria on the orbit of realistic social, economic and political development.
Ezeemo, disclosed that he had six functional companies in Anambra state,with 2,000 direct and 10,000 employment rate, with the least worker usually go home with N15,000 daily, said he established such companies as part of his contribute toward the development of the state.
On what he intends to offer the people of Anambra state if he is given the opportunity to govern the state, Ezeemo promised to ensure fairness in the utilisation of the resources of the state to the greater benefit of all and sundry.
He described Anambra as a state in dire of a leadership that would inject fresh ideas and vigor to the greatest satisfaction of its citizens.
Toward this end, Ezeemo pleaged to institutionalise the concept of divinity of labour where quantum number of the army of unemployed, especially youths, would be meaningfully engaged in productive endeavours to stem youths restfulness and check crime and criminality in the state.
He said he would commit much energy and resources to the development of infrastructure, particularly roads, to open up the rural areas and check rural urban migration and ensure rural farmers have good roads to convey their produce to the cities for better sale and make the desired profit.
“When a farmer knows that with good road in his locality, he can transport his yam and other farm produce to the cities and make good money, he will be more productive and when this happens, poverty as well as crime will definitely reduce to the barest minimum and the people feel the impact of good governance they are yearning and aspiring for.
” I am preparing with my team to offer the people of Anambra purposeful, people-oriented and above all, God-fearing government, if given the mandate,”he said.
On education, the aspirant, who stressed the importance of education to any human endeavour, said he would make education free from primary 1 to JSS III, to give opportunity to more children in the state to have solid education foundation upon which they would actualise their educational pursuit.
On power, Ezeemo, who noted that Anambra had large quantity untapped gaz deposits, also promised to effectively utilise the resources to turbine the various rivers in the state to bring about constant power supply to boost commercial activities in the area.
” With constant electricity supply, artisans,the hospitality industry and operators of external economic activities would have enough energy to work with and expand their businesses for the general good of the state.
On sports, the frontline PDP hopeful also promised the people of the state that he would galvanise youths into developing real interest in sports by building many stadia, where experienced coaches and other sports administrators would groom their soccer talent for them to become stars in no distant future.
He said he would also use sports as a social factor to strengthen unity among the various people of the state among advantages.
