The people of Kwara North Senatorial Zone have stressed the need to correct the imbalance and lopsidedness against the Zone with immediate effect.
A Communique signed by stakeholders of the Zone on several matters affecting the Senatorial District on political and economic emancipation which they said could no longer be compromised, noted that the people of the zone remained aggrieved regarding the appointment of the current Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University as.
According to the forum,the people concerned expect the State Government to retrace its steps and appoint Prof. Saka Mahmud, who they said came top in the interview for the position for the VC of the university.
They added that the recent appointment of the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of IVTEC, Ajasse-Ipo, was unethical, compromised and therefore unacceptable as the candidate that came last (4th position) in the interview process was appointed.
“A building to be named “Kwara North House” is to be established in Ilorin as a symbol and rallying point for the desired unity and emancipation of the diversed peoples of Kwara North Senatorial Zone.
“Kwara Northerners re- emphasised their sole objective for a Kwara Northerner to contest and emerge as the Governor of Kwara State in 2023.
The Forum, therefore, urged all the people of the zone to key into this sole objective and rise up to the challenge and do every thing possible and legal to clinch the governorship seat of the State in the year 2023.
“The entire people of Kwara North Senatorial Zone unequivocally disagree with and therefore dissociate the Zone from the recent press interview granted by Senator Umar Suleiman Sadiq,representing the zone at the Senate on the second term for the incumbent governor of Kwara State,” the Forum said.
According to the a Forum, the contents of the press interview were the senator’s personal opinion the people said are grossly against the interests of the people of Kwara North.
“Kwara North shall continue to interact and collaborate with well-meaning groups and people of the other two Senatorial zones of Kwara State regarding the 2023 governorship seat of the state.
“The 2021 budget of Kwara State is not only arithmetically unbalanced but also politically unfair to the Kwara North Senatorial Zone and should therefore be reviewed to correct the imbalance and lopsidedness against Kwara North Senatorial Zone with immediate effect.
“The process that cumulated into the approval by the Kwara State House of Assembly for the N35 billion bond is fraught with irregularities, self serving and did not meet with the regulatory requirements of raising such bonds as required by the Debt Management Office of Nigeria.
” The bond should,therefore, be discountenaced with to save Kwara State from future financial burden that shall lead to its bankruptcy and other financial embarrassment.
“The Agricultural Development Plan recently put in place by the Kwara State Government is shrouded in secrecy in terms of cost and location of projects as It is not linked to the state’s 2021 Budget nor the Medium Term Expenditure Framework of the state and should therefore be withdrawn and redesigned with the input of the General public and the farming communities in the state.
The people of Kwara North congratulated Mr Ali Bahago on the breakthrough made in the Educational Sector by obtaining the approval for the establishment of a private University to be sited in the Kwara North Senatorial Zone.
“The meeting re-emphasised the resolve of the Kwara North Senatorial Zone to fully support any party that fields a Kwara Northerner as it’s Gubernatorial Candidate in the 2023 General Elections”
