Dr. Nazir Ichanyi, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), has said the inclusive reforms of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration are translating into tangible benefits for the grassroots, driven by collaboration, institutional strengthening and people-centred governance.

Speaking as Guest of Honour at a One-Day Inter-Ministerial (MDAs) in Lokoja on Tuesday,Ichanyi said the programme was more than a ceremony, describing it as “a reflection of dedication, progress and the power of unity.”

The governor’s aide commended Governor Ododo’s leadership, noting that the administration has demonstrated “a strong commitment to inclusive development, institutional strengthening and people-centred governance.”

“Kogi State is witnessing purposeful reforms aimed at improving service delivery, expanding economic opportunities and ensuring that governance delivers real value at the grassroots.

“Under his leadership, Kogi State is witnessing deliberate reforms and strategic initiatives designed to ensure that governance translates into tangible benefits for our people at the grassroots,” Ichanyi said.

According to him, this is evident in ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery and expanding economic opportunities across the state.

The adviser also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and courageous economic reforms targeted at repositioning Nigeria for long-term stability and prosperity, noting that the federal reforms complement development efforts being implemented at the state level.

“President Tinubu’s determination to reposition Nigeria reflects foresight and national commitment. These efforts at the federal level reinforce the developmental strides we are making in Kogi State,” he added.

Drawing from his role as Special Adviser on IGR, Ichanyi stressed that sustainable revenue mobilisation thrives on partnership rather than isolation, noting that trust, compliance and shared responsibility are critical to growth.

“Revenue generation is not merely about figures; it is about partnership, trust and shared responsibility between government, institutions, businesses and citizens,” he said, adding that collaboration accelerates progress.

He explained that fora such as the event provide vital platforms for dialogue, alignment of goals and collective ownership of development initiatives, which ultimately strengthen institutions and build a more resilient economy.

Ichanyi applauded the organisers for their vision and determination, describing the programme as a product of sacrifice, coordination and passion.

“The quality of participation here today is evidence that your efforts have paid off,” he said.

He urged participants and stakeholders to leverage the opportunities provided by the gathering to generate innovative ideas, forge lasting partnerships and translate discussions into practical actions that would positively impact communities.

“As we move forward, we must remember that real success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by the positive difference we make in the lives of others,” Ichanyi said, calling for collective commitment to accountability and growth.

He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the event would extend beyond the day’s activities and contribute meaningfully to shared development goals, while offering prayers for Kogi State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Our correspondent reports that the event has the theme:”Leveraging Inter-governmental Collaboration To Support MDAs In Kogi State.”
