It was a day wrapped in tears, prayers and heavy silence as family members, friends and well-wishers gathered in Unubi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, to bid farewell to Mr. Chukwuemeka David Nnadozie, whose sudden death still hangs painfully in many hearts.
David, who died on December 12, 2025, at a private health facility in Lagos, was laid to rest at his family compound in Agbogwugwu village, Umudike clan.
For many present, the reality of his death was difficult to accept. Just days before, he had been seen in his usual cheerful spirit,healthy, lively and full of warmth. Now, that familiar smile existed only in memory.
From the opening prayers to the moment, his remains were lowered into the earth at his personal house, grief spoke louder than words. Tears flowed freely.
Some mourners stared in disbelief, others whispered prayers, while a few could only ask quietly, “God, why?” The pain of loss was etched on every face, lingering heavily throughout the burial rites.
During the interdenominational funeral service held at the Nnadozie family compound, Pastor Steven Ogodo and Rev. Dan Uche Edward delivered messages of exhortation and consolation that sought to steady broken hearts.
They reminded the gathering of the uncertainty of life and the need for constant readiness, noting that no one knows the hour when life will answer its final call.
The clergymen, who led other pastors and members of the Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM) in Unubi and from its zonal headquarters in Ukpor, urged the living to invest in heavenly treasures while strength and time still permit.
Drawing from biblical lessons, including the story of Lazarus and the rich man, they cautioned against living without the consciousness of a day of reckoning, while praying that David’s service to God while alive would not go unrewarded.
David was also a committed member of Christ Embassy Church, Lagos, which played a significant role during the wake-keep held earlier at his Lagos residence.
In a final show of love and respect, the church sent a strong delegation from Lagos to join zonal leaders from Nnewi and Ukpor at the burial.
The delegation include Pastor Solomon Irabor, Judith Leonard, Joyce Christopher, Abigail Ude, Chibuzor Okonkwo, Agozie Eze, and Nonso Uzoukwu, who led members in paying their last respects.
Several other clergymen and Christian groups were also present to honour the departed. A delegation from the Unubi Born Again Christians (UBAC), Lagos branch, led by Samuel Obika, Ifeanyi Anumba (Ex-officio) and Amaobi Joseph, paid glowing tributes, describing David as a devoted believer whose commitment to Christian fellowship left lasting impressions.
Similar tributes came from Pastor Ikechukwu Onyeanusi of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Lagos, Evangelist Celestine Agu of the Christian Pentecostal Church, Lagos, and Brother Chris Uba, all of whom spoke fondly of his faith, kindness and dedication to the work of God.
Prayers were offered for the family he left behind—especially his two children—and for strength to bear what many described as an irreparable loss.
In a vote of thanks after the burial, the head of the family, Sir Solomon Ogechukwu Nnadozie (KSC), expressed deep appreciation to relatives, friends and well-wishers who stood by the family in their darkest hour. He prayed that God would reward their kindness and grant them safe journeys back to their destinations.
Late David Chukwuemeka Nnadozie is survived by his two children, Chinweotuto and Chimdi, as well as brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces, including Chinwendu Nnadozie, Niger State Correspondent of Daily Independent newspaper.
Though laid to rest, his memory,marked by faith, warmth and quiet service,continues to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
