Okene, Kogi State, Nigeria – The late Sheikh Abdulmalik Ibrahim Atta Mosque, Okeneba, Okene, was transformed into a spiritual haven as thousands converged for the Maulud Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass celebrations. The event, a testament to the unwavering devotion of Tijjaniyya Muslims across Nigeria and Africa, witnessed an overwhelming turnout, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries.
The atmosphere was electric, with attendees from far and wide, including neighboring countries, gathering to pay homage to the revered Sheikh. The air resonated with chants of praises to Allah, the most exalted, and Salawatul Rasul, Muhammad Sallalahu Alyhi Wa’alih Wassallam, as the faithful commemorated the birth of Sheikhul-Islam Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass.
Sheikha Hafsah Bint Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass, representing the family, welcomed the gathering and advised attendees to fear Allah Almighty wherever they found themselves, citing Quranic verses and Hadith. According to her, anyone that has the fear of Allah, Allah will definitely deliver them from any form of calamity and set them free. She further emphasised emulating Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass’ exemplary character, compassion, and selflessness, highlighting his unwavering commitment to spreading Islam and serving humanity.
The ceremony featured the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ustaz Sirajudeen Sheikh Usman Bashir, the grandson of Sheikhul Islam, followed by a soul-stirring Azkar and praises to Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Alyhi Wa’alih Wassallam). A Renowned Islamic scholars,Sheikh Ibrahim Sudan Khalifah Sheikh Muhammad Amin Abdullah Okene, The guest speaker of the event, delivered inspiring lectures on Sheikh Niass’ life, teachings,and legacy. Sheikh Sudan further Catalogue the similarities of the life of Sheikhul Islam, how Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass in all his affairs exemplifies the life of the Best of Universe, the Best of Allah’s creatures, Muhammad Sallalahu Alyhi Wa’alih Wassallam.
The Chief Imam of the late Sheikh Abddulmalik Atta Mosque Okeneba, Okene, Imam Muhammad Kabir, who opened the ceremony with a prayer, set the tone for an inspiring spiritual reflection and remembrance.
Imam Muhammad Bashir Musa Ohu, the Chief Imam of Kogi State Government House, Also in his speech,shared insights into Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass’ excellent character, highlighting his kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Imam Muhammad Bashir further advised all the thousands of Muslim faithfuls to emulate the life of Sheikhul Islam, and translate to reality all what we have learned from him.
The massive crowd, estimated in hundreds of thousands, was a testament to Sheikh Niass’ enduring appeal and Muslim Ummah unity. High-profile individuals, scholars, and leaders from Nigeria, Africa, and beyond attended, including Profs in the field of Academia, and other Islamic scholars, Judges, Captains of Industries, and other various leaders across the Africa delegation.
Despite the large gathering, the event remained remarkably orderly, thanks to the meticulous planning and coordination by the Maulud Sheikhul Islam Committee and volunteers. Security personnel ensured seamless movement and maintained a peaceful atmosphere throughout.
As dusk fell, the festivities culminated in a spectacular display of fireworks, illuminating the night sky. The resonant sounds of praises of Allah “Allahu Akbar”and “Salawatul Rosul” continued to echo, punctuated by joyous cheers and tears of devotion.
The gathering reaffirmed commitments to Sheikh Ibrahim Abdullahi Niass’ noble teachings, inspiring attendees to become better versions of themselves and foster a society built on love, compassion, and harmony. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of Sheikh Niass, a beacon of hope and guidance for Muslims worldwide.
