The Police Command in Kogi State has dismissed rumours circulating about an alleged bandit invasion in Zango, Crusher, and Felele communities in Lokoja, describing the reports as fake news aimed at causing panic.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, stated this in a release signed by the Command’s spokesperson CSP William Aya on Thursday.in Lokoja, warning individuals spreading the false alarm to desist or risk arrest and prosecution.

The police commissioner noted that such misinformation was capable of creating unnecessary fear among residents.

Kankarofi said the Command had already deployed tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force and counter-terrorism teams, to strategic areas to ensure continued safety and stability across the state.

He urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear and to support security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements.

According to him, security remains a shared responsibility, adding that public cooperation is vital to maintaining peace.

The Command advised the public to report credible security concerns via 07038329084.
