Kogi Train Derailment: Police Commissioner Visits Site,Ensures Passenger, Rail Safety

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi ,on Sunday, visited the scene of a train derailment at Adogo in Ajaokuta Local Government Area to assess the situation and ensure the safety of passengers and property.

This is contained in a statement signed by CSP William Ovye Aya
Police Public Relations Officer,
Kogi State Police Command on Sunday and availed The Reporters a copy.

During the visit, CP Kankarofi conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the incident, met with officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), and interacted with some of the stranded passengers.

He promptly deployed security personnel to safeguard lives, railway assets, and other facilities in the area.

The Police Commissioner also supervised the evacuation of all passengers to Ajaokuta station for their safety and comfort.

In addition, he ordered the deployment of additional security operatives to protect the derailed coaches and prevent any breach of peace around the site.

CP Kankarofi reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state, assuring that the police would continue to work closely with other security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
