Miss Oduwaiye Ifeoluwa of the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, has emerged as the overall best graduating student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.94.
The Vice-Chancellor of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, disclised thisOjediran disclosed this during the university’s 17th Convocation Ceremony for the conferment of honorary degrees, award of higher degrees and diplomas, admission to first degrees, and presentation of prizes, held on Saturday in Ota.
The Vice Chancellor,who revealed that 114 students graduated with First Class Honours in the 2024/2025 academic session,described the 17th convocation as unique, symbolising the institution’s endurance, commitment, and steady growth over the years.
According to him, a total of 1,066 students graduated, comprising 272 postgraduates and 674 regular and special direct entry (Top-Up) students.
According to him,out of the graduating students, 114 earned First Class Honours, 373 obtained Second Class Upper Division, 260 bagged Second Class Lower Division, while 47 graduated with Third Class Honours.
The vice-chancellor congratulated the graduands and urged them to become agents of positive change, saying the “seed of greatness” had been planted in them.
He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to deepening its visibility in enrollment, research, and webometric ranking.
Ojediran commended his predecessors, Prof.Julius Okojie and Prof. Isaac Adebayo, for laying a solid foundation upon which the present administration continues to build.
“Any building that has a faulty foundation cannot stand,” he remarked.
Highlighting the institution’s achievements, the VC noted that Bells University had recorded remarkable milestones in academic excellence and infrastructural development over its 20 years of existence.
In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Bart Nnaji, said all programmes of the institution had been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He congratulated the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adeyemi, who was conferred with an honorary degree in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education and socio-economic development in Nigeria.
Nnaji also commended the graduating students for their diligence, urging them to uphold the values of integrity and excellence that the university stands for.
