The Federal Government has released N5.12 billion to settle pension arrears owed to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme, managed by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
According to PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, the payment covers various categories of pensioners across multiple departments.
A total of 8,626 retirees from the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD) received N276.03 million for one month of arrears.
Similarly, 59,609 retirees from the Parastatals Pension Department were paid N3.81 billion for two months of arrears.
The Police Pension Department’s 9,681 pensioners received N619.58 million for two months of arrears, while 12,773 retirees from the Civil Service Pension Department got N408.74 million for one month of arrears.
The disbursement, Ejikeme explained, is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, aimed at ensuring pensioners promptly receive their entitlements. She reaffirmed PTAD’s commitment to clearing outstanding arrears and improving the welfare of retirees nationwide.
