In a strategic move to stem the tide of crime across Kogi State, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi state Command,CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has called on residents to embrace intelligence sharing and community partnership as core tools for effective policing.
He made calls on Tuesday during the monthly meeting of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja.
CP Dantawaye emphasized that “security begins with the people,” noting that most crimes in the state originate or pass through common spaces such as motor parks, neighborhoods, and markets.
He warned that criminal networks thrive where silence prevails and urged residents to “see something and say something,” stressing that intelligence sharing could thwart many criminal activities before they escalate.
“In today’s world, silence is no longer golden Criminals operate in plain sight,inside our markets, through our motor parks, even within our neighborhoods. Without timely information from the public, we are fighting blind,”
the CP declared.
He renewed the call for innovation and collective vigilance, promising that under his leadership, the police would remain accessible, transparent, and proactive in securing lives and property.
Contributing,Elder Aaron Ali, the State PCRC Chairman, commended the CP for personally attending the meeting, describing the session as “engaging and impactful”,and assured the Commissioner of the Committee’s continued cooperation in the fight against crime.
Hajiya Rabietu Okute, Chairperson of PCRC Zone 8 and Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs in the state, also lauded CP Dantawaye’s leadership and his open-door policy, which she said had deepened collaboration and trust.
“The CP’s hands-on approach has improved our synergy with the police, making policing more people-centered,” she noted.
The meeting also served as a platform for strengthening police-community relations according to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO for the Command in the state,SP.Willism Ovie Aya and a copy available to The Reporters.
He added that event brought together PCRC executive members from various Area Commands, Divisions, and Local Government Areas across the state.
