The Niger State Government has reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that are genuinely committed to supporting developmental initiatives aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
This assurance was given by Comrade Zubairu Bala Kuta, Head of the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organizations in the state, during a three-day dialogue and the launch of a Compendium of Sector-Specific Solutions for Inclusive Leadership in Nigeria: Loss and Call to Action for All, held at Guddel Hotel in Minna on Thursday.
Speaking through Engineer Esther Bello, Comrade Kuta noted that while many NGOs,both local and international, appear to be focused on similar objectives, the state government is determined to engage only those with clear, transparent goals and a measurable impact on development.
He explained that the government seeks to build strategic partnerships with NGOs that align with its vision of inclusive governance, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
This, he said, would help ensure proper coordination of interventions and avoid duplication of efforts.
One of the featured presentations was by the Executive Director of the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation (DNF), who shared insights into the Foundation’s broader mission to foster positive social change across Nigeria.
Our correspondent reports that the event provided a platform for DNF and other organizations to engage stakeholders in discussions around collaborative development models.
Participants at the dialogue emphasized the importance of aligning modern development efforts with local values, traditions, and community participation. They noted that deviation from cultural norms and uncoordinated external influences have, in some cases, hindered progress at the grassroots level.
The event attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including religious leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities, traditional rulers, political leaders, students, and opinion leaders from various parts of Niger State. They collectively pledged to support inclusive leadership and developmental goals through stronger partnerships with credible NGOs.
