The Kogi State Government has partnered with Mufkad Estate, a real estate development company, to deliver a rent-to-own housing scheme aimed at providing affordable and dignified homes for civil servants in the state.
This initiative was revealed by Engr. Suberu Onimisi Nusa, Project Manager at Mufkad Estate, during an exclusive interview with LugardTV.
According to Engr. Nusa, Mufkad is collaborating with the State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development under the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to accelerate the rollout of the project and ensure it aligns with the needs of public sector workers.
“We met with the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, on the instruction of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to chart a way forward for the immediate delivery of affordable housing,” he said.
He added that Governor Ododo has mandated the development of a rent-to-own housing model in partnership with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), allowing civil servants to move into homes and pay over time.
Engr. Nusa explained that the initiative is a response to the escalating cost of rent in the state, particularly in Lokoja, and is designed to provide sustainable housing solutions to public servants.
The housing units will be made available through the FMBN-supported rent-to-own scheme, offering flexible payment plans spread over 15 to 20 years at single-digit interest rates.
The project is part of Mufkad Estate’s broader commitment to advancing the housing development agenda of the Ododo administration and improving the welfare of civil servants in Kogi State.
