The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, has expressed profound condolences to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and the people of Niger State following the tragic tanker explosion on Saturday morning at Dikko Junction along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, which has claimed nearly 100 lives.
In a statement, the State Chairman, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, prayed for eternal rest for the departed souls and a speedy recovery for the injured victims receiving treatment.
The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese assured the governor that the Christian community stands united in grief with the state government and the affected families during this challenging period.
“We, the Christian community in Niger State, are deeply saddened by this devastating incident. We stand with the state government and share in the pain of this difficult time,” the cleric said.
Describing the incident as worrisome, heartbreaking, and unfortunate, the CAN state chairman extended sympathies to the Governor, the Suleja Emirate Council, and the families of the victims.
The religious leader called on road users, especially motorists, to exercise caution to prevent such tragedies in the future.
He commended the state government’s swift response to the emergency and its support for the victims’ families and those hospitalized.
