As the 2027 general elections approach, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) executives at the state and local government levels to set aside their differences and foster unity among party members.

Governor Bago emphasized the importance of reconciling aggrieved members, particularly at the ward level across the state’s 25 local government areas of the state, to prevent losing ground to the opposition in the upcoming elections.

Speaking during separate meetings with the APC leadership in Kontagora Local Government and the Zone C party secretariat in Kontagora, the governor expressed concern over reports of internal conflicts within the party.

He warned that such divisions could jeopardize the party’s standing and diminish the broad support it currently enjoys.

“The harm caused by internal squabbles not only weakens us as individuals but also threatens the collective strength of our party,” Bago said.

He called on party members to prioritize unity and patriotism to ensure the continued development of the state, especially at the grassroots level.

To address the crisis, Governor Bago announced plans to establish a committee that will work with the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development to mediate and resolve disputes.

He also reassured party members that significant funds had been allocated for grassroots development projects to improve basic social amenities.

The governor urged everyone to set aside personal grievances and work together for the state’s progress, reminding members that loyalty to the party and commitment to its success are essential as a way of giving back to the citizens who supported the APC at the polls.

In his remarks, the APC Deputy Chairman for North Central, Alhaji Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, praised Governor Bago for his people-centered policies, noting their positive impact on the lives of Niger State residents.
