In a call for optimism and support for Nigeria’s future, Nigerians have been urged to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which focuses on advancing infrastructural projects across the nation.
At a recent town hall meeting in Minna, Niger State, the Minister of Works, Engr.David Umahi emphasized the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure, particularly in the northern region, with a focus on improving road networks.
The meeting, held at the Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, marked a key opportunity to assess the administration’s progress.
Umahi highlighted the ongoing construction of a 125-kilometer stretch of the 1,068-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, a federal road project passing through several states.
This project, he said ,is expected to boost local economies and improve connectivity.
Umahi also addressed the slow progress of several long-standing federal road projects, including the Suleja-Minna and Bida-Lapai-Lambata roads, which remain incomplete despite being awarded years ago.
Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure.
Governor Muhammad Umar Bago of Niger State ,in his contribution, expressed gratitude for the federal government’s attention to the state’s infrastructure needs.
However, he called for improvements in construction quality, particularly criticizing the performance of contractor Salini and suggesting the re-award of contracts to more reliable firms like Hi-Tech and CCECC.
