A man, identified as Olubunmi Johnson, has been arrested by the Police Command in Ogun State in connection with the alleged attempted murder of his wife, Kikelomo, after she was set on fire at their home on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota area of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, following a domestic dispute between the couple. While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, an eyewitness stated that Johnson allegedly poured petrol on his wife before igniting the flames.
A neighbour who witnessed the event quickly informed the victim’s family, who then contacted the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that officers from the Ilogbo Division responded promptly and arrested the 55-year-old suspect.
“The husband has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment,” the PPRO said.
According to the police image maker, the case is being treated as an attempted murder, adding that police have begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
