The FCT Police Command has referred Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau to the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) for mental assessment and evaluation. This action follows a disturbing incident on Monday, July 8, 2024, when Shuaibu climbed a high broadband mast at ASO Radio in Katampe, Abuja, and attempted suicide.

According to SP Josephine Andeh, the FCT Police spokesperson in Abuja, Shuaibu will undergo psychiatric evaluation to determine his mental state. Pending the outcome of the assessment, he may face charges under sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace, and incitement.

Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasized the importance of residents maintaining lawfulness while advocating for their rights. He assured that the Police will uphold order and not yield to pressures that could destabilize the community.

Shuaibu was apprehended immediately after his suicide attempt, with the motive behind his actions known only to him, as indicated on the notice board.
