More than 7 shops with property estimated at millions of naira have been gutted by fire at Tamma near the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, in Nasarawa State.
The inferno our Correspondent gathered began at about 3am Saturday, spreading across several shops and continued for hours before the intervention of the men of the fire service as well as sympathisers.
This is the second time in the last three months similar incident is occuring destroying property worth over 10 million naira at the yam market in Nasarawa town.
An eye witness account told our Correspondent that the fire had destroyed most of the property in the building before the arrival of the fire men who only succeeded in putting off the inferno
“The fire began around 3am on Saturday and destroyed property worth millions of naira before Sympathizers and fire service personnel arrived at the scene of the incident”
As at the time of filling this report, the causes of the inferno was yet to be ascertained. but the Information officer of Nasarawa local government area, Yahaya Abdulrahman, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on telephone, sympathized with the victims.
Abdulrahman however, called on traders and other shop owners to put off their electrical appliances when closing from the shops to avoid fire incidences in the area.
