Governor Bello receives kudos for employing 10 PWDs as aides.

A member of People with Disabilities,PWDs, kogi state branch,Mal.Ishaq Dan Imam, has commended the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for employing ten members of the body in the state as his aides.
He gave the commendation on Tuesday at the office of the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, kogi state council, Lokoja when officials of TAF Africa paid a courtesy visit to the chairman, Alhaji Adeiza MomohJimoh.

Our correspondent reports that TAF Africa champions the cause of PWDs by ensuring that their rights are not trampled upon by institutions or other members of the society and instil confidence in them among others.
According to him, Bello stands out among other governors that had governed the state , so far, by employing the highest number of PWDs as aides in his government.
He said that from record available to him, the Bello administration had so far employed two members of the organization as Senior Special Assistants down the ladder, two each in the three senatorial districts in the state among others.
Imam, a journalist in kogi state, further disclosed that the governor also ensured that PWD members emerged as supervisory councillors in Anpka, Olamaboro and other Local Government Areas in the state.
According to him, the establishment of the Kogi State Office for Disability Affairs, by the current administration in the state, represents government resolve to include members of PWDs in the implementation of its policies and programmes.
He, however, stressed the need for proper funding of the office to enable it achieve its aims and objectives.

Earlier, the Prgrammes Lead, TAF Africa, Mr.Olayemi Samuel,said he and his entourage were at the NUJ to seek the cooperation of journalists in the state and to urge them to do more on issues concerning PWDs in the state in their reportage.

Samuel, who noted that there had been low reportage of developments among PWDs, stressed the need for the members of the union to escalate investigation on issues bothering PWDs with a view to bringing them into limelight for prompt attention of the government and other segment of the society.

Responding, the Chairman of the union in the state, Alhaji Adeiza MomohJimoh, commended TAF Africa for its efforts in achieving its aims and objects and assured it of the cooperation of journalists in the state.
