At least, 80 suspects are in the net of the Ondo State Security Network,Amotekun Corps, nabbed for various crimes in the last three weeks.
The Corps Commander of the security outfit, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, made the disclosure on Sunday at the headquarters of the Corps, Alagbaka on Sunday when he addressed Journalists on the arrest of the suspects.
The Corps Commander further revealed that out of the number,32 had been arraigned in Court for prosecution after the completion of investigation into their cases.
According to him,herders who destroyed the 10 hectares of cassava farm of the immediate past Vice Chairman (Southwest) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Eddy Olafeso, have been arrested.
He explained that the culprits fled to the neighbouring Ekiti State after destroying the cassava farm where they were apprehended, adding that the Corps also bursted a syndicate which specialises in snatching tricycle, (Keke Marwa).
The Corps Commander also told the Journalists that tricycle, snatched by the syndicate and taken to Lagos State state, was tracked to the location where it was kept through the communication device procured by the state government.
The Corps Commander who doubles as the Special Adviser (Security) to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,said: “Some of the suspected,at the end of the day, were found to be victims of circumstances, like those that came out without means of identification at odd hours and are found where they were not supposed to be. Those ones, upon proper interrogation, were released to go, some released on bail.
“But what we have here is about 36 men and women engaged in various criminal activities ranging from murder to anti-grazing, stealing of motorcycles, grinding machine, stealing of Keke napep, stealing of various household equipment, including generator, and armed robbery.”
He describe Ondo State as a place where criminals found it difficult to thrive, warning that they should leave State in their own interest.
He stressed that the anti-open grazing law is in force in the State, aimed at discouraging the use of underaged for grazing, especially when they engage in destruction of farm products.
According to the Amotekun boss, the Corps arrested four of such underaged youths that engaged in the destruction of the farm of one of the principal officers of PDP and brought them to back to the state.
“We have got the owners of the farmland, we had equally allowed them to meet with the owners of the cows that destroyed the farmland and I think they are talking.
“But regardless of what they do, they have contravened the anti-open grazing law, so they must fulfill the righteousness by going through the normal judicial system.
“Majority of these ones that we are parading today, having concluded the investigations, some of them will be going to court early week next week,”he added.

Security Network Agency was established vide the Amotekun Corps Law, 2020 in response to the rising wave of insecurity in the Southwest Geopolitical Zone.
