Kogi state civil servants have in strong term kicked against plan by the state branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress to deduct ₦3,000 from their salaries.
They told Journalists in Lokoja that in the event that the organised labour goes ahead to effect the deduction, they would head to court to seek justice.
According to the state organised labour, led by Onu Edoka, the planned deduction is meant to complete the union’s state secretariat.
But the workers described the plan as “wicked, corrupt and lack of sympathy to their plight,” saying that the labour union did not seek their approval before taking the decision.
They expressed concern that the planned deduction came at a time when the labour union could not account for how the check off dues (money) that went to its account was being spent.
The workers, therefore, vowed that any attempt by the Onu Edoka-led administration to deduct their salaries, after the monthly deduction of check off dues, would be heavily resisted.
According to them, Onuh Edoka and his cabals took the decision to deduct their salaries without seeking their consent, adding that such action was autocratic and self-centred.
They, therefore, appealed to the state government to intervene in the matter to avoid escalation of action.
