The National Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has congratulated the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) on her first anniversary in office, celebrating her visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare of retirees across Nigeria.

In a congratulatory message signed by its National Chairman, Comrade Sylva Nwaiwu, the Union expressed heartfelt appreciation to the DG for her remarkable achievements.

Nwaiwu noted that her leadership has significantly strengthened the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restored confidence among pensioners.

According to NUPCPS, the DG’s dedication, reforms, and proactive interventions within the past year have set a new standard for efficient pension administration in the country.

The Union noted that retirees under the CPS have benefited immensely from her leadership style, which it described as goal-oriented, humane, and transformational.

The union further revealed that members of staff of the Commission were visibly excited as they welcomed the DG to the office on her anniversary day, demonstrating solidarity and appreciation for her exemplary service.

The warm reception accorded the DG, NUPCPS added, reflects the high regard in which she is held by both workers and pensioners.

Comrade Nwaiwu affirmed that the Union and its members “love and appreciate” the DG for her performance, assuring her of continuous support as she steers the Commission toward greater accomplishments.

The union wished the DG greater achievements and a fruitful tenure in the years ahead, emphasizing that her first year has already made a meaningful impact on the lives of Nigerian pensioners.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the union has appealed to members who have got alert of the 2024 consequential adjustment not to be in a hurry to sign any payment agreement with their PFAs.

This is contained in a statement signed by Com Bisan Olufemi John,
NUPCPS National Secretary on Friday and a copy made available to The Reporters in Abuja on Saturday.

The statement read:”Kindly wait for the other pension arrears to drop between tomorrow and early next week before rushing to your PFAs for any payment advice.

“You should also ensure that you get the 50% en block payment of the total consolidated amount before signing any documents of the 50% balance to be credited into your RSA balance for increase in your monthly pension.

“The issue of payment of the N32,000 pension wage award will be paid en block later.

“The above information applies to all Pensioners under the Programmed Withdrawal scheme and the Life Policy Annuity Scheme respectively.”
