The Coalition of Northern Groups, Student Wings, (CNGSW) says it is disgust over the levity with which the Federal Government is approaching the indefinite strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the attendant closure of public universities.

Comrade Adams Ayuba, the spokesman of the group also expressed concern over closure of associated institutions in the country, while addressing journalists in Lokoja on Saturday on the ongoing strike by ASUU.

The coalition also condemned the Minister of information,Alhaji Lai Mohammed, for admitting that the complexities of the strike were beyond comprehension.

Ayuba said that the coalition was mobilizing its members across the region, to shut down National and States Assemblies and all political party offices, major highways, airways as well as railways.

He, however, said the move in contemplation would only materialise,if decent moves being employed by it group, including mega meetings and mobilisation of members, fails to yield positive results to pave way for the reopening of universities and other tertiary institutions currently on strike.

The group, therefore, urged ASUU to join forces with students, parents and civil society organisations(CSOs),to device means of achieving lasting solutions to the problems confronting the nation’s education.

The aim of the meetings,he said, would be to decide definite courses of action, including petitioning of traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials, and security personnel in the respective states towards ending the prolonged strike action.
