Phase 2 road: Public again stress urgent repair of cave-like portion to avert accident

Some members of the public in Lokoja,Kogi State capital, have reiterated their clarion call on the State Government to repair the deepening cave-like portion of the Harmony School/phase two portion of the road leading to the State secretariat, Lokoja to avert accident and loss of lives.

The people, earlier spoke with the Correspondent of The Reporters on the issue,some weeks back gave the advice on Tuesday in Lokoja while contributing to radio programme called “Oga driver.”

They described the portion concerned as dangerous to motorists and other road users, especially in the night, noting that the portion had continued to widen in seize as days go by.

Our Correspondent who visited the area on Monday reports that the cave has indeed expanded while a concerned member of the public is said to have demarcated the dangerous portion with an object to draw the attention of drivers and road users to it and to avoid accident.
 

Some members of the public, particularly drivers, who also spoke with The Reporters, in Lokoja, called on the Commissioner for Works and Housing Engr Abubakar Ohere, to do the needful and urgent too,on the delicate portion of the road seriously begging for government attention.

They also called on the Chairman, Lokoja Local Governnent Area of the state, Mal.Danasabe to repair the portion of the road in front of the secretariat which they noted had become so dilapidated thereby impeding free flow of traffic.
