The Road Users Development Network of Nigeria,RUDEN,an NGO, has observed with great delight, the massive Mobilization to site by the Chinese company handling the dualisation of the ABUJA-KEFFI Road.

In the same vein, the NGO has also lauded the projections of the construction company on repairing the bad portions of the road between Mogadishu Cantonment (Abacha Barracks) and Boundary road (Checking Point) between Abuja and Keffi.

The Chairman of the NGO,Bar. Chimezie Obi,in a statement he signed in Abuja and a copy at the disposal of The Reporters on Friday,”his is a move that deserves commendation as all users of that road could see.”

The RUDDN boss recalled that on November 3, 2021, RUDNN had issued a 2-Week ultimatum to the Chinese Contractor handling the said road to speed up the dualization work to ease traffic.

The Organisation notified that failure to heed its call would result on a call to Road Users within that axis to brace for a protest to Mr. President to call the appropriate supervising Government agency to sit up and do their work.

” We are glad and delighted that our call has been heeded so far.

“The dualization work is currently being given the needed attention and speed expected by users of that road. The bad portions of that road has started receiving the needed attention as expected.

“RUDDN is happy to make this observations and hereby call on the appropriate government authorities to keep the contractors on their toes until the job is fully completed.

We are not oblivious of the fact that the contract to dualize that road has a special undertone, but having accepted to do the work, the Chinese company has the duty of care to fix it in line with the terms of the agreed contract within the time frame allocated for the work.

“We’ll keep engaging the contractor from our point and keep sharing ideas on how best to serve the people which includes everyone who use that road constantly and indeed, anyone who may from time to time have reason to use that road,” he said.

According to Obi,RUDDN,an NGO, duly registered with the Federal Government of Nigeria with a mandate to protect the interest of road users across the country and ensure that the Rlroad is motorable for all Nigerians.

He said the NGO has been in constant in touch and collaboration with authorities of FRSC, the VIO, the Police, the Nigerian Army and other sister agencies to “make the road free for all”.
