New CP takes over in kogi, solicits support of Journalists, others

The new Commissioner of Police in Kogi state, Mr Arungwa Nwazue, on Monday took over the mantle of leadership of the police command, soliciting the support of Journalists and other strata of the society to make the state much safer for enhanced peace meaningful development.

He stated this in Lokoja while taking over the responsibility of policing the state from Mr Ede Ayuba, who takes is now the new Assistant Inspector-General of,Zone 8,in charge of Kogi and Kwara States.

The 56-year-old Commissioner of police,who joined the police in 1990, with B.A hons.philosophy among other qualifications, promised to enhance the efforts of his predecessor and boost “a robust security architecture” he took over.

According to him, his tenure would deepen efforts made by Ayuba with emphasy on intelligent gathering from within to enhance the operation of the command and frequent raids/operations aimed at dislodging criminals from their safe heaven out of the state.

He also promised bandits, Kidnappers armed robbers and the likes, hard time to ensure they were effectively deterred.

Nwazue said in achieving his set goals, he would need the cooperation of all citizens of the state, especially the youth, traditional rulers, Local Governnent chairmen,heads of security agencies, Journalists among others.

The new police boss in the state also promised to tap from the knowledge of his predecessor whom he showered praised for effective leadership in checkmating the activities of bandits and other criminal elements in the state.

He said, “We assure all Citizens that we are prepared and determined to promote a safe Kogi state that will encourage and promote safety and development.”

Earlier while handing over the leadership of the command to his successor, Ayuba, commended Journalists for their support toward his success while his tenure lasted.

Ayuba, who noted that his tenure witnessed some criminal activities, by bandits and their likes, expressed delight that the command was able to curb crime and criminality in the area through the cooperation of Journalists.
