Mrs Nneka Isaac-Moses, the Managing Director of Goge Africa, organiser of an award winning culture and Travel TV programme, has called on the three tiers of government in the country to train and retrain practitioners in tourism sector.
Isaac- Moses said this in a telephone interview with the Newsmen in Awka on Thursday .
She said that such trainings would reinvigorate, sustain and boost the industry as well as to provide more jobs and kindle the economy of Nigeria.
Isaac- Moses urged the government to create enabling laws that will favour investors in tourism, safe environment, security, access roads and water amongst other amenities that would encourage the practitioners to perform better.
“We can go into image laundering that is to package and market Nigeria as a brand, promote Nigeria and Nigerians at home and abroad.
“Nigeria has the largest travelling population in Africa, if we get 40 per cent of our travelling population to travel within Nigeria, the sector would be financial stable.
“Nigeria will save the foreign exchange we lose through outbound tourism, government and corporate organisation should hold their conferences and retreat in Nigeria, to boost practitioner’s confidence,’’ she said.
She said that the tourism sector practitioners’ if well-funded would create creative tour packages with many tourist sites in Nigeria that would receive visitors within and outside.
“Tourism alone can go a long way to alleviate harsh economy condition of the Nigerian populace.
“The various state tourism board and agencies in the country should engage tour operators to organise familiarisation trips in various states for better image laundering” she said.
Isaac- Moses said that there are lots of wealth creations in tourism sectors and appealed to government to partner with tourism practitioners to market the country and provide jobs for the unemployed.
She said that Goge Africa was a project she conceptualised and nurtured with her husband and business partner so as to tell the beautiful stories of Africa and value addition it offers to Africa.
