The Governor of Taraba state, Mr Darius Ishaku, has called on the Federal government to help the state cushion the effects of #endsars, to enable it stabilise and be able to effectively serve the people.

The Governor made the call while on tour of some structures and areas damaged in Jalingo, the state capital on Tuesday to ascertain the level of damage by the #endsars looters.

He expressed shock over the devastating degree of damage done to the state by the looters during #endars protest, noting that the development had caused a major set back to the state, “especially now that the state is just struggling to cope with the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor said: “In a poor state like Taraba, when we pay salaries, there will be nothing more left to do other things, so the Federal government has to intervene.

Ishiaku, who noted that the protest was a collosal damage, talking about repairing damaged properties remained a mirage lamented, “I don’t know because the scarce resources we have are what we are using to keep the state functioning.

“With this setback, I don’t know when we will revive. The country is also going into reccession, so this is sad.”

The Governor regretted that the protest which started on a peaceful note in its wake, was later hijacked by the hoodlums and turned it to looting spree.

He reminded the looters that while in a democratic society, people were allowed to express their views, it should not be done in a destructive manner.

Our correspondent reports that areas visited by the Governor include the warehouses at TSTC, Veterinary clinic, the Hope Afresh Foundation.
