Alleged extra-judicial killing: Manus urge speedy investigation

The family of Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Manu, a resident of Dan-anacha in Gassol Local Government area of Taraba state, has appealed to the Federal government to investigate his gruesome murder allegedly by men of the 20 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.

This is contained in a petition signed by Bello Ibrahim and other members of the deceased’s family was submitted to the Nigerian Army Headquarters Abuja and a copy made available to newsmen in Jalingo.

The petitioner stated that the deceased, aged 47, was invited by some soldiers stationed at Dan-anacha on Oct. 6, 2020, adding that his dead body was later found at Suitmay Primary School in Dan-anacha.

The family added that the body had bruises, adding that the uptopcy indicated that he died of internal bleeding resulting from beating.

They mentioned Lt. Ibrahim Bello as the leader of the contingent stationed at the base and therefore, sought punishment for the perpateiators of the dastardly act as well as compensation to the deceased’s family.

The Reporters gathered that the petition was copied to the National Security Advisers Office, the Director General, Department of State Services, Inspector General of Police, Senate President, Speaker Federal House of Representatives and National Human Rights Commission.
