The Chairman, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service ( KGIRS), Alhaji Aliyu Inda Salami and other board members of the organization were on Monday, ordered to vacate their office by the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

The Reporters,an online publication, gathered that the sacking of the Salami and other board followed their summon to the Government house, Lokoja where they told of the development within 10 minutes of their brief meeting with Bello.

The members of staff of the organization were also said to have been taken unawares by the development.

The Governor was said to have immediately put in place an Interim Management Committee to oversee the management of the daily affairs of the service.

The online media recalls that Aliyu Inda Salami, in December 2018, succeeded Senator Yakubu Oseni elected to represent Kogi Central Senatorial district in the Senate.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner for information and communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said thr sacking of the chairman and other board members was due to ‘violation of corporate Governance’ in the Service.

Fanwo explained that the Governmemt acted to save the service from further violations, adding government decision was also as a result of the 2019 Audited Financial Report of the Service.

He said:”The Governor is conscious of issues that have to do with excellent corporate governance, transparency and accountability.

“The 2019 audited financial report of the Service shows that there were infractions and the Governor had to take a decision to ensure the service is repositioned.

“In their place, the Governor has appointed an Interim Management Committee to oversee the daily affairs of the service.

“The newly appointed Interim Management Committee is to be chaired by the Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris.
Other members are: the Attorney- General and Commissioner of justice, Ibrahim Sani Muhammed.

The rest are: “the Auditor-General of the State, Yakubu Okala and the Auditor- General for Local Governments, Usman Ododo, while the Accountant General of the State serves as secretary.”
