Dr Dominic Bako, Director- General, Nasarawa State Bureau of Public Procurement, has urged Eggon nation to continue to unite and embrace peaceful co-existence in order to attract development to the nation and Nigeria at large.
Bako made the call at the Eggon critical stakeholders re-union banquet he organised for Eggon nation in Lafia on Saturday.
He noted that no nation or society could achieve meaningful progress without unity, hence, the need for his call.
“This banquet basicallyĀ centres on the unity of the Eggon nation and our peaceful co-existence, among other tribes and communities, it is neither for political nor merry-making but to focus our minds on some issues I consider apt and key to our progress as a people.
“I say so becauseĀ l after our visit to His Excellency, the Govennor of Nasarawa State early this year, some crucial issues were raised before him concerning our people.
“It was envisaged then that a follow up would be made but I am not aware that any of such was done, l” he said.
The director-general also urged Eggon nation to proffer solutions to their problems in order to achieve meaningful progress in their land.
“My intention is to enable us ponder over some issues that have continued to burden me as a follow. What has been the dream(s) of the Eggon naion, have we realized these dreams? If not ,why and if yes, are we satisfied with where we are?, can we do better as a nation and how?
“What is the future for our children?do we truly love ourselves as Eggon Kyenkyen and will posterity say we have played our part well?,” he said.
The DG restated his continued commitment to initiate good programmes that would uniteĀ Eggon nation.
In his remarks, retired Justice Ahmed Ubangari,who was the Chairman of the Occasion, also advocated unity among Eggon sons and daughters for development to thrive.
Ubangari, who is the Waziri Eggon, appreciated the convener of the event and urged stakeholders to bury their differences and embrace peace, for the development of their land the nation at large.
A correspondent of The Reporters, an online publication, reports that Sen.Godiya Akwashiki,Sen. Solomon Ewuga,former member,House of Reprentatives.Joseph Kigbu, Alhaji Danladi Halilu Envulunza,former Secretary, National Judicial Commission (NJC) attended the occasion.
Many of those in attendance, including traditional rulers and other and stakeholders, who spoke during the event also louded Bako forĀ the unity initiative.
They expressed optimism that the banquet would not only unite Eggon people but also proffer solutions to problems confronting the Eggon nation.
At the end of the banquet,the following people were appointed as committee members to proffer solutions to problems facing Eggon nation.
They are:Prof. Umaru Mohammed, Chairman, Barr.Anthony Akika, Associate Prof. Peter Agah, Dr Victoria Sila, David Faith Allu, Esther Sam Allu whileĀ Mr Mathew Umbugaku serves as Secretary.
Another highpoint at the occasion was the cutting of re-union cake.
