Men suspected to be kidnappers today abducted nine passengers traveling in a commercial bus along lsua highway in Akoko South East area of Ondo State, demanding N100m ransom from the families of the victims before releasing them.
Duaglobalnews gathered that the passengers were on their way from Abuja to Lagos in a Toyota Sienna bus when the suspects kidnappers forced their to stop during which they led them into the bush.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state, Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the incident.
He,however, said that one of the victims had been rescued, adding that efforts were on to ensure the release of other victims.
Toward this end, the police image maker said that police detectives had been mobilised toward the rescue of the victims in synergy with hunters, local vigilante and other agencies to ensure the success of the move.
Duaglobalnews recalls that similar event took place in the neighbouring kogi state about a week ago on Lokoja-Okene road when the state chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtktar Atimah cheated kidnappers.
The online also recalls that the owner of the popular Super market in Lokoja,”Chucks Shopping mall”, Mr Nicholas Ofodile, lost his life in the hands of kidnappers who waylaid passengers of luxury bus at the Gegu axis of the Lokoja-Abuja road, barely three weeks ago.
