Rain claims life, causes blackout in lokoja

A man in his mid 20s, simply known as Ogwu in lokoja, capital of kogi state has lost his life while hundreds families count their losses following a huge rainfall on Tuesday night in lokoja, Duaglobalnews reports.
The areas most affected with telling effects include Ganaja-Gadumo quarters and Ibaji quarters and Adankolo area.
As a result of the development, most parts of Lokoja have been thrown into black out.
A correspondent of Duaglobalnews, an online medium, who visited the affected areas on Wednesday, reports that the rain, started about 7.30 p.m came with heavy breeze that pulled down roofs, electric polls, gates, trees and fences among other property destroyed.
According to sources, Ogwu, a twin and who just finished his NYSC service, was selling in his shop at Diamond plaza on Ganaja-Ajaokuta road when the wind smashed one of the glasses of the window of his shop against his hand.
The unfortunate incident, the online publication further gathered, led to heavy loss of blood, adding that he was later taking to the hospital in lokoja where he passed on.

One of the victims, who preferred to remain anonymous told our correspondent:” We have been reeling under terrible heat since January this year and praying for rain, this one came with heavy toll on many of us, God knows the best.”

“We pray such rain does not repeat itself.”
Invariably, the development has turned to a blessing in disguise for carpenter many of who have been engaged for repairs of leaking roofs.
