Kogi Assembly screens, approves SIEC members

Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday, screened and approved 8 nominees sent to it for screening and approval to be appointed as members of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).

The screening took place in the chamber of the state House of Assembly, presided by the Speaker of the House,Prince Matthew Kolawole.

The list of new SIEC members,sent by Governor Yahaya Bello, has Mamman Nda Eri as the Chairman of the Commission with Abdulkarim Jamiu, Alhaji Ali Lawal Jiya Musa Adama Babakeke and Funsho Olorunfemi.
Others are:Chogudo Yakubu Musa. Hon. Labaran Yahaya Oyigebe while Ozovehe John Enesi is the Secretary of the Commission.

The members, who are expected to be sworn by the governor, this week at Lugard House,Lokoja are expected to conduct the local government election.

Duaglobalnews recalls that the first list of nominees submitted to the House was turned down by the state lawmakers after they discovered that such members were card carrying APC members.

Members of SIEC are supposed to be non partisan.
