Ilorin

Clerics in the country have admonished to shun celebrating corrupt leaders, especially with chieftaincy titles as part of their role in stemming the tide of corrupt tendency in the society.

The Bishop of Anglican Communion , Kwara state, Rt.Rev. Sunday Adewole, gave the warning at the recent one-day dialogue on security in Ilorin, organised by the state state.

‘’Don’t celebrate corrupt leaders, if they bring money, tell them you don’t need it,” he stressed.

The Bishop also advised security agents to protect confidential and sensitive information sourced from members of the public, most especially those revealed to them based on trust, in order to sustain such trust.

He noted that the collapse of the family system, exemplified by the dwindling values was one of the factors promoting corruption, oiling and ypropelling the wheel of crime and criminality in Nigeria.

The religious leaders, therefore, called on parents and guardians to be exemplary in their conduct for the younger ones to emulate and toward raising children who would be responsible leaders of tomorrow.
