The State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, has assured of the State Government commitment to give support to take-off of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Lokoja, as soon as possible.
Jones gave the assurance on Wednesday during his assessment tour of the facilities at the TIC centre on Hassan Usman Kastina road, Zone 8, Lokoja.
Addressing the federal staff at the premises of the centre, the Commissioner commended the Federal Government for sitting the multipurpose facilities in Kogi, to create employment, boost economy and promote entrepreneurial skills for the people of the state.
The commissioner described the structure and equipment on ground at the centre as massive and assured the entrepreneurs that the state government would ensure that the centre is connected to the national grid as soon as possible.
”We will work together,play a very open-door policy;feel free to come with ideas on how we can grow the centre to the benefit of our people and move Kogi state forward,”the commissioner said.
Receiving the Commissioner, Mr Mustapha Abdulsalam, the Manager of the Centre,commended the commissioner for the visit, describing the decision as an indication of Governor Yahaya Bello’s keen interest in the centre.
The Centre Lokoja is under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology board.
Abdulsalam said the board had the mandate to reduce poverty, using technology incubation as a tool to engaging younger ones in entrepreneurial skills in order to be self reliant and be employers of labour.
