Residents task KGSG to solve water scarcity in Lokoja By Haruna Yusuf

Residents of Lokoja, capital of the Confluence Kogi State have called on the state government to as a matter of urgency, find lasting solution to the scarcity of potable water that hit the area for more than a week running.


They made the call in separate interview with Duaglobalnews, an online media outfit in Lokoja on Sunday.


According to them, the scarcity of water had thrown them into some sort of hardship, adding that they could no longer lay hands on tap water to carryout their private and commercial activities.


Operators of various commercial concerns where water play prominent role in their daily production and earning, lamented the burden of the problem on their activities and income.


The operators who include restaurants, car washers, hoteliers and recreational outfits among others said they had been running business at lost due to the problem.


A car wash operator,who asked for veiling of identity, said, ” my boys washing peoples cars to make daily bread and earn money for the me have been lying idle for the past one or so and we no tap water to carry out the business of the day.”


“The state government should please expedite action in solving the problem,to ease the hardship brought about the scarcity on us and other segments of the population in Lokoja and its environment.


Mr Kingsley Fanwo, Director-General, Information and Strategy, while reacting to issue said the scarcity was due to maintenance work being carried out at the water work in Lokoja.

He appealed to residents to exercise patient, assuring them that efforts were on to rectify the problem,sooner than later.
