The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic has approved the withdrawal of 229 students for poor academic performance while also ratifying the first semester examination results for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Acting Coordinator, Public Relations and Protocols of the institution, John Amos Onimisi.in Lokoja and obtained by The Reporters an Thursday.
He said the Polytechni reached the decision during.its Academic Board meeting held on May 12, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime.
Onimisi added that the meeting,, attended by principal officers, deans, heads of departments and other members of the Academic Board, focused on key academic issues affecting the institution.
According to him,the Polytechnic approved the examination results followed a comprehensive verification carried out by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee.
The Acting Coordinator, Public Relations and Protocols explained that the committee meticulously examined submissions from various schools and departments to ensure accuracy, fairness and strict compliance with the institution’s academic regulations.
A breakdown released by the institution indicates that the affected students were drawn from both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes across several departments, including Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, as well as Office Technology and Management.
The Board explained that the withdrawal of the students was in line with the Polytechnic’s academic policies aimed at maintaining academic excellence and protecting the credibility of certificates awarded by the institution.
Speaking after the meeting, Professor Avidime commended members of the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee for their diligence, professionalism and commitment during the verification process.
The Rector noted that the efforts of the committee had continued to strengthen the institution’s academic integrity and uphold high educational standards required for producing competent graduates.
He stressed that the Board’s action was taken in the overall interest of sustaining quality education and encouraging seriousness, discipline and improved academic commitment among students across all programmes of the Polytechnic.
