The 36 Political Elevation Group (36 PEG) has commended the appointment of Nigerian music star, Davido, as Chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Council for the re-election campaign of Ademola Adeleke in Osun State.
The group, led by its President, Prince Dan Olaitan Dada, described the appointment as a strategic move capable of deepening youth participation in politics and governance.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, the Director General of 36 PEG, Hon. Chief Sanmi Isola Oluleye, said the decision reflected a growing recognition of the need to engage influential voices that resonate with young people across the country.
According to him, Davido’s popularity and influence both within and outside Nigeria place him in a strong position to connect with youths beyond political affiliations and conventional campaign structures.
“This appointment reflects the growing recognition that youth mobilisation in modern politics must engage credible voices that resonate with young people across Nigeria,” Oluleye stated.
He noted that the involvement of a prominent youth figure such as Davido would help strengthen issue-based political engagement, especially among first-time voters and politically disengaged youths.
The group further observed that for many years, youth participation in politics had largely been limited to election mobilisation without meaningful inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.
It stressed that appointing a youth icon to head mobilisation efforts signaled an intentional effort to bridge the gap between governance and young people.
36 PEG also described the appointment as a positive precedent for inclusive politics, noting that the participation of respected public figures in structured political engagement could help create stronger connections between government and grassroots communities.
The organisation stated that the development aligned with its objective of promoting disciplined, accountable and people-oriented leadership across Nigeria.
While reaffirming its support for initiatives that encourage responsible youth participation in politics, the group urged the Osun State Government to complement the appointment with clear programmes on civic education, voter enlightenment and policy feedback mechanisms.
According to the group, such measures would ensure that youth mobilisation translates into informed political participation rather than mere crowd mobilisation.
36 PEG also called on Davido to use the platform to promote unity, discourage political violence and encourage young people to embrace competence, accountability and service as the foundation for political support.
The group reiterated its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders across the country to improve the quality of political engagement and leadership recruitment,
stressing that the future of Osun State and Nigeria depends largely on how the younger generation is prepared and involved in leadership today.
