President Bola Tinubu has commended Mr Nyesom Wike, Minister of FCT, on the Council polls saying the “remarkable achievements” have yielded political dividends for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the President on information and strategy, says in a statement that Tinubu also congratulated the winners of the elections conducted in the FCT, Kano state and Rivers state.

“President Bola Tinubu congratulates the winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory and the states of Kano and Rivers,” the statement noted.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in the six area councils of the FCT, as well as by-elections in Ahoada east II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers, and in Kano municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano.

“The President urges the winners to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust,” the statement added.

Tinubu also congratulated the APC national leadership, as well as the party’s leadership in Kano and Rivers, and members of the party on the victories.

“He commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC),” the statement stated.

“President Tinubu lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.

“He further commends the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.”

Tinubu said the successful conduct of the elections strengthens democratic culture and institutions, and called on INEC to continue improving its efforts to deliver “even more exemplary electoral processes.”

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of Rivers state, was appointed FCT Minister by Tinubu despite being in the opposition party.
