The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of three prominent party chieftains. The deceased are Hon. Onojah James Ignatius, Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, and Alhaji Alih Atabo.
Their deaths were confirmed on Monday by the Kogi State Government in a statement issued in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo.
According to him,Hon. Onojah James Ignatius was a Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State and a former Chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area. Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman served as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, while Alhaji Alih Atabo was the APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.
“The Government and people of Kogi State have received with profound sorrow, the news of the passing of three distinguished sons of the state,” Fanwo said, describing the deceased as loyal and committed party leaders who served with dedication and selflessness.
He noted that Hon. Onojah James Ignatius was a seasoned grassroots mobiliser and administrator renowned for his passion for community development and good governance.
Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, he added, discharged his responsibilities with humility, diligence, and a strong sense of public duty and he described he Alhaji Alih Atabo as a devoted party stalwart whose commitment to the unity and growth of the APC at the ward level was exemplary.
The commissioner however did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the death of the three deceased.
Fanwo conveyed the condolences of Governor Ododo, the Kogi State Government, and the people of the state to the families of the deceased, their associates, and members of the APC.
He also sympathised with the people of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina Local Government Areas, noting that the legacies of service, sacrifice, and dedication left behind by the departed party leaders would continue to inspire the state and the ruling party.

Meanwhile, in a statement signed by Hon. AA OKENE,Chairman,Kogi Central Forum of SSAs, the Forum expressed is bereave over the death of Hon.Jatto.
“We lost Adayi Hon. Jatto Suleiman to the cold hands of death this evening (Friday 9th Jan, 2026) after his return back home from the Jumuat prayers.
“Until his death, he was the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Creative Arts.
“He was a very peaceful man, a thoroughbred grassroot politician and a community developer.
“We will surely miss him.
“May Almighty Allah make Jannatul Firdaus your final abode and grant your family the strength to bear this huge loss.
Condolences,”the Forum said.
