The Nigeria Union of Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has issued a 10-day ultimatum to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to pay outstanding pension increment allowances and wage awards to its members no later than December 24, 2025 or face the action of the union.
Our Correspondent gathered that the ultimatum was part of resolutions reached at a meeting of the unionās national leadership held in Abuja on Monday, December 15, 2025, to review the conduct of PFAs and determine the next line of action to protect membersā interests.
Disclosing this in an online broadcast to members nationwide, a copy of which The Reporters obtained on Wednesday, the National President of the union, Comrade Sylva C. Nwaiwu, said the leadership had received numerous complaints from state chapters.
He said the complaints centred on delays and alleged shortchanging of pensioners by some PFAs, particularly claims of 50 per cent underpayment.
According to him, some members submitted required agreement forms but were yet to receive their payment, while others were being asked by PFAs to return after two or three weeks, or even as late as January 2026. āWe cannot accept this,ā he warned.
Comrade Nwaiwu added that the union had formally communicated its ultimatum letter to PenCom to ensure strict compliance by PFAs, lamenting that the conduct of some administrators had contributed to delays and shortfalls in payments.
He explained that in a formal letter to the National Pension Commission (PenCom), the union insisted that all its members must be fully paid their entitlements on or before December 24, 2025, to enable them celebrate festive season without undue hardship.
The national chairman urged members experiencing difficulties in accessing their payments to promptly report such cases to their respective state branches for onward transmission to the national secretariat for immediate intervention.
He,however, clarified that the union was not responsible for calculating individual payments and advised members with complaints about computation errors to contact PenCom directly for resolution.
Comrade Nwaiwu further noted that CPS pensioners under the self-funded and first-line charge categories were not excluded from the exercise, stressing that ongoing delays were part of efforts to normalise and streamline their payment process.
Reassuring members, he said the union remained committed to ensuring that every eligible pensioner receives their full entitlements as approved.
The national president also expressed appreciation for the response of members to the ā¦10,000 contribution for a solidarity party being planned in honour of the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “impactful achievements in the CPS sector”.
