Governor Ododo Visits Families of Crash Victims, Vows Unbroken Support

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid an emotional condolence visit to the families of victims of the tragic accident that claimed six lives and left several others injured on Wednesday along the Lokoja–Okene road.

The victims were returning home after participating in the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration, hosted earlier at the Government House, Lokoja, when the devastating crash occurred.

Describing the tragedy as “a deeply painful moment for the entire state,” Governor Ododo said the deceased were patriotic citizens who honoured an invitation to celebrate inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity. Their sudden passing, he said, represents a significant loss not only to their families but to Kogi State as a whole.

During his visit, the Governor met privately with each bereaved family, offering heartfelt prayers, words of comfort, and personal encouragement. He assured them of the Government’s unwavering and continuous support, both during this period of grief and beyond.

He further reiterated his commitment to the full recovery of the injured, who are currently receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state. Governor Ododo directed the Ministry of Health and all relevant emergency agencies to remain in close contact with the victims’ families to ensure that medical care, welfare needs, and psychosocial support are provided without delay.

The Governor also called on the people of Kogi State to join in prayer for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The Kogi State Government once again extends its deepest condolences to all affected families and prays that God grants them the strength and comfort to bear this painful and irreparable loss.

Our recalls that 5he victims were returning from the commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, hosted earlier in the day at the Government House, Lokoja, when the heartbreaking incident happened.
Eyewitness said the bus conveying the victims hit an articulated vehicle in the same direction around the vicinity of Kabba junction axis of the busy highway.

Describing the tragedy as a deeply painful moment for the entire state, Governor Ododo noted that the deceased were patriotic citizens who had come to participate in an event that celebrated inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities, adding that their passing represents a profound loss to Kogi State.

During the visit, the Governor met privately with each bereaved family, offering prayers, words of encouragement, and assurances of the Government’s unwavering support.

He reaffirmed that the Kogi State Government stands firmly with the grieving families and will continue to provide all necessary assistance, both now and in the days ahead.

Governor Ododo also restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the full recovery of the injured who are receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state.

He directed the Ministry of Health and relevant emergency agencies to maintain close contact with the families and ensure that all medical, welfare, and psychosocial needs are promptly addressed.

The Governor further called on the people of Kogi State to unite in prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured.
