Dr. Adeniran Ogunmuyiwa, founder of JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd, has dismissed a recent claim by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, suggesting that the high-value River Park Estate in Abuja was owned by Ghanaians.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Ogunmuyiwa maintained that he established JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd in 2006 (CAC Reg. No. 669754) through the law firm of L.D. Shwarkuka & Associates, with himself and his wife as majority shareholders holding 60 percent equity.
He alleged that the long-standing ownership dispute over River Park Estate was triggered by attempts by Ghanaian partners to take over the company through fraudulent means.
“The Ghanaian conspirators, led by Kojo Mensah, only attempted to hijack the company in February 2024 when they fraudulently increased its share capital from one million to 100 million without the knowledge of the directors, allocating 99 million shares to themselves,” he said.
Ogunmuyiwa noted that this led to a police investigation that culminated in criminal charges filed in June 2025 against Mensah, his lawyer Abu Arome, and others.
He added that while the propaganda claims by the Ghanaians did not bother him, the truth was already reflected in a publicly available police report dated June 27, 2025.
According to him, JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd was eventually sold in 2025 to Paulo Homes Ltd, following an agreement between himself and Mr. John Townley-Johnson, CEO of Houses for Africa Holdings Inc., the initial foreign investor in River Park.
“The issue is ultimately a test for Nigeria’s justice system and the corporate security framework of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which allowed unauthorized alterations of our approved records,” Ogunmuyiwa stressed.
He confirmed that the company has filed a suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/1869/2025) through its counsel, Oluwabunmi Adebiyi, seeking redress in court.
Our correspondent recalled that the Nigeria Police have filed a 26-count charge against lawyer Abu Arome and three Ghanaians — Sam Jonah (KBE), Kojo Ansah, and Victor Quainoo as well as Mobus Property Nigeria Ltd.
The defendants are scheduled for arraignment on October 7 before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to police investigations, the accused allegedly forged company documents, unlawfully increased share capital, allocated shares to themselves, and even posed as Nigerian citizens before the CAC in a bid to fraudulently acquire control of JonahCapital Nigeria Ltd and Houses for Africa Nigeria Ltd.
The police listed several exhibits to back up their case, including board resolutions, forensic reports, petitions to the Inspector-General of Police, statements by defendants, and documents allegedly falsified to facilitate the disputed takeover.
