Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen in Kogi Patrol Team Ambush

Three police officers were on Wednesday killed when gunmen ambushed a patrol team along Okoloke,Pategi Road in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Kogi State Police Command in statement signed by its spokesperson,SP William Aya and copied The Reporters in Lokoja,said the hoodlums, who emerged suddenly from the bush, opened fire on the officers shortly after they arrived at their routine pin-down point.

The attackers fled the scene before reinforcements could arrive.

SP Aya, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has deployed a tactical team comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Intelligence, and Quick Response units to restore calm and hunt down the perpetrators.

He said that the command has also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations to commence a full probe into the incident.

While describing the attack as unfortunate, CP Dantawaye urged residents of Egbe and surrounding communities to support security agencies by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
