The Coalition of Federal Pensioners of Nigeria has announced plans to embark on a nationwide naked protest on October 6, 2025, if the Federal Government fails to implement the agreed ₦32,000 pension increment and pay its arrears along with the promised ₦25,000 palliative in the September pension cycle.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the coalition’s meeting held on September 9, 2025,in Lagos and signed by its National Chairman, Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote, who also chairs NUP Nipost.
The coalition stated that a press conference will be held on September 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at GPO Marina, Lagos Island on the Ministry of Finance and highlight the group’s grievances to the public and international community.
The pensioners commended the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) for restoring back-end computation in the August pension payment but urged the agency to immediately settle arrears owed to affected parastatal retirees, stressing that delays are causing unnecessary hardship.
The coalition also directed all pensioners across the country to begin mobilizing and praying for the success of the protest while mourning colleagues who died due to delayed implementation of the increment and palliative.
“We pray God will spare our lives to collect our money with our own hands and grant eternal rest to pensioners who passed away while waiting,” the communique read.
The pensioners warned that failure to meet their demands before the end of September would leave them with no choice but to take to the streets in a peaceful but symbolic naked protest.
