The Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) operatives have apprehended a suspected kidnapper in the volatile Ikefi community, located in the Igalamela-Odolu local government area of Kogi State.

The arrest, security experts said, is a dramatic turn of events.

In a statement issued by the HOD, ICT/Media, S.O. Saka on Saturday, the suspected kidnapper, Abdullahi Abubakar, was nabbed by the Igalamela Command of the vigilante service.

On Friday evening at approximately 6 pm, Abdullahi Abubakar, who had been terrorizing the local farmers, was captured by the Igalamela Command of the KSVS.

The suspect, found in possession of a wooden toy gun, was swiftly arrested after a community plagued by fear saw a rare moment of justice.

Recent reports had indicated that a criminal syndicate was actively targeting the community, forcing local farmers off their lands and attempting abductions.

The growing tension within the region, where fear of kidnapping was rampant, seemed to be reaching a boiling point. However, the coordinated action by the KSVS operatives provided a much-needed glimmer of hope.

The suspect’s capture is being hailed as a significant victory for the community, who have long lived under the shadow of criminal threats.

The KSVS statement confirmed that Abubakar, along with the wooden toy gun, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Idah Area Command for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

Kogi State Vigilante Service officials reassured the public that they remain steadfast in their mission to safeguard the lives and properties of residents, particularly in areas where the terror of kidnapping has cast a long, dark shadow.
